"If you treat the work like a task to be completed, instead of as a lesson to be learned and explored, you will probably not fare well in this course."

Why Take an AP Course?

(borrowed from http://home.apu.edu/~jmcgarv/apworld/#)

The purpose of the course, however, extends beyond the possibility of earning college credit by providing students with the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge that will form a useful foundation for college studies. A recent study of this “AP Effect” reported the following results:

bulletBetter prepared academically for college.
bulletMore likely to specialize in majors with tougher grading standards.
bulletMore likely to complete more college course work.
bulletMore likely to take subjects in their AP subject area.
bulletLikely to perform significantly better over four years of college course work.
bulletMore likely to be superior in terms of leadership.
bulletMore likely to make significant accomplishments in college
bulletTwice as likely to do graduate level studies.
